Thank you Matt for opening this line of communications. I am Francyn Chomic, not a Thornton Farms resident, but the Dexter representative for Newcomers Welcome Service. I have visited over 50 residents of Thornton Farms and look forward to "welcoming" many more.
Newcomers Welcome Service provides a free package of information, maps, area guides, restaurant menus, coupons and gift certificates from area businesses to people who have moved into the Dexter School District (with our without kids) or are first time home buyers. There is no charge for this package, so please take advantage of our offer. You can call me at 734-449-8402 or email at chomic@provide.net or dexternewcomers@provide.net.
I will also help keep you informed about upcoming events and activities in Dexter. Here's a quick list. If you'd like any more details about an event or would like an event added to the (eventual) events calendar, please let me know.
Update on Parker Road Bridge (from WCRC)
With regard to the Parker Road Bridge, all of the design plans have been completed and the project was bid on May 4 through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). A Contractor for the construction of the new Parker Road Bridge will thereafter be selected.
Based on the MDOT schedule, a contract for the bridge construction will be issued in early-June. Construction of the new bridge will subsequently begin in mid-June. The bridge is scheduled to be open-to-traffic by the end of September.

Thanks for all the info, Francyn! That's great news about the Parker Road bridge! Can't wait to take that way to downtown Dexter, 'cause Baker Road is a NIGHTMARE. I've gone as far as taking Dancer over...
Great to hear that the bridge will be repaired. It will be a nice shortcut to Dexter. Looking forward to Dexter Daze!
Thank you for the info Francyn. It's much appreciated.
